It's nice to have a web-based email account because it allows you to monitor your email anywhere there is a browser including smart phones such as the iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android.
Let's set up a gmail account.
Go out to Google.com and click on gmail in the upper left corner of the screen.
On the Gmail information screen look for the login window. Click on the Registration button:
This will take you to the registration page. It should look something like this:
Write down your gmail address as well as your password.
Anytime you need to check your Gmail account:
- Go to Google.com
- Click on the Gmail link in the upper left corner
- Type in your gmail account and password in the login box (upper right corner)
Use this Gmail account (or any other web based email you may have) for the rest of the exercises.
Also, keep in mind that information you put on the Web is available to other people. It is common knowledge that Google is indexing everything that is stored out on their servers even if it isn't available to everyone Web.
Don't put secure or private information using these applications. Committee notes are fine, but ideas on a new products or personal stories (especially when other people's names or photos are included) should be kept inside your own private network.
